On the one hand South Africa sits with a pestilently high unemployment rate of 29% on the other hand South Africa, a work force largely employed by SME’s (47%). Remaining cognisant of the fact that large entities have a limited ability to absorb this large work force; means that in between these two hands sits an opportunity to resolve one of South Africa’s economic challenge: through the empowerment of SME’s that will drive employment in South Africa. At Optimal we leverage our supply chain as this vehicle for good.

Even as fervent advocates of preferential procurement, supplier growth and enterprise development, we maintain that our engagement with our suppliers (2^nd tier and 3^rd Tier suppliers too) should be meaningful-effective, efficient- and ethical. Our focus is beyond compliance: to further the agenda of sustainable development in our country.

Our primary focus as a built environment entity is addressing infrastructure related changes in our community. Since 2019 we have partnered with an eMalahleni faith based organisation impacting over 200 lives, to assist in the maintenance of their infrastructure.
